When my friend Jerome posted about how he wanted to organize a Help-Portrait community for my area I thought it was a really cool idea, but I wasn’t sure if I would be willing to really commit and help out. I was unsure of my ability to really make a difference, portraiture is not my strong suit and make me feel kind of uncomfortable sometimes, and I willingly admit this.
This morning at church we were talking about not just being blessed but blessing others with whats been given to us. I consider myself blessed with a talent that I’m nurturing and growing right now. While we were talking about sharing it became apparent to me what I need to do to share my gift. I don’t have lots of money, or even lots of time, but I do have a talent that I can use to help others, people who need portraits, people who don’t have the time or money to have a portrait taken of them and delivered free of cost. Its a pretty small way to help out my community in the grand scheme of things, but I feel like its the one way I can help out.
